Pelvic Exam Consent Law Takes Effect July 1st

Legislation that passed during the 2020 Florida Legislative Session takes effect on July 1st which requires patient consent for pelvic exams with very limited exemptions.
This requirement will be in effect for physicians as well as physicians in training and medical students.
The state has not mandated a specific consent form that must be used.
The penalties for failure to secure consent are significant.
We strongly encourage physicians that perform such exams to become familiar with the new requirements.
