GET INVOLVED!Contribute your unique talents to the society's efforts. The Physicians Society of Central Florida depends on its members to contribute their expertise in areas effecting medicine today. If you are an active PSCF Member and would like to serve on a committee please fill out the form. Descriptions for each Committee/Board are listed below form.
PSCF Board of Directors (Year-Round)The PSCF Board of Directors is made up of the President, President-Elect, Vice President, Immediate Past-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. There are six At-Large positions elected from the Active membership whom move up in seniority to become officers of the society and seven District Representatives practicing in each of the seven districts (as defined by the board of directors) elected from the Active membership. There are up to three resident members and two medical student members each representing a separate, respective institution within the community, appointed by the Board of Directors. The board also nominates a lay-person to sit on the Board as well as ask the Deans of the two active medical schools in Central Florida to sit on as members of the Board. Members of the Board are required to attend at least 50% of the Board Meetings unless excused by the Executive Committee. The Board transacts all business of the Society. PSCF Political Action Committee (PAC) (during legislative sessions & CAMPAIGN SEASON)The Physicians Society of Central Florida (PSCF) PAC is a bi-partisan physician-led organization committed to supporting candidates that embrace the sanctity of the physician-patient relationship and will advance a pro-physician and pro-medicine agenda in Tallahassee. Learn more about the PSCF PAC PSCF FOUNDATIOn (year-round)The PSCF Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Physicians Society of Central Florida and focuses on medical education within our community through scholarships to local medical schools and also to high school students who demonstrates extraordinary scholarship, integrity, and a strong interest in science. The Foundation has also developed a Physician Wellness Program to provide support services for local physicians. The PSCF Foundation Board of Directors conducts the business of the PSCF Foundation by meeting virtually four times a year. The business of the PSCF Foundation includes, but is not limited to, the PSCF Physician Wellness Program, the Foundation Scholarship programs, Fundraisers, and community contributions. FMA Annual Meeting Delegate (May – August)The PSCF sends up to 47 delegates to the Florida Medical Association (FMA) Annual Meeting each year to represent the organization. The delegates meet prior to the Annual Meeting to discuss proposed resolutions that will be voted upon during the Annual
Meeting and ultimately, potentially make-up the legislative agenda of the FMA. PSCF Scholarship Committee: High School Scholarship Program (jANUARY - March) The scholarship committee reviews scholarship applications for the Seminole County high school scholarship program which supports those students who wish to go on to pursue a career in medicine and the sciences. The society is looking for physicians who are interested in serving on the committee to help review applications and conduct interviews with some of the students. Medical Student Poster Judge (DECEMBER) The PSCF has volunteer physicians help review the work of medical student posters. Posters are submitted by medical students at OCOM, UCF COM and FSU COM. Residency Research Competition Judge (February - ApRIL)The PSCF has volunteer physicians help review the research and posters of local residents prior to the Residency Research Competition Program each May. Legislative Committee (Year-Round)The PSCF Legislative Committee plays a pivotal role in shaping healthcare policies and advocating for the interests of physicians and patients alike. Comprising of experienced physicians, the committee serves as a bridge between the medical community
and government bodies. Its primary responsibilities include evaluating proposed legislative changes related to healthcare, analyzing their potential impact on the medical practice, and formulating well-informed recommendations. Through thorough research
and collaboration with various stakeholders, including policymakers and patient advocacy groups, the committee strives to ensure that healthcare laws and regulations align with the highest standards of patient care, medical ethics, and professional
integrity. By engaging in thoughtful dialogue and providing evidence-based insights, the Legislative Committee contributes significantly to the development of a healthcare landscape that promotes the well-being of both physicians and the individuals
they serve.
