Advocacy

The Physicians Society of Central Florida (PSCF) PAC is a bi-partisan physician-led organization committed to supporting candidates that embrace the sanctity of the physician-patient relationship and will advance a pro-physician and pro-medicine agenda in Tallahassee.

The PSCF is entitled to send approximately 47 delegates to the Florida Medical Association (FMA) Annual Meeting each year to represent the association in the FMA House of Delegates. PSCF is one of the largest county society delegations in the state of Florida at this annual meeting. Our delegation helps to shape the FMA agenda for the following year and is a rewarding experience for members of all backgrounds.

During legislative session each year the PSCF provides weekly updates on the debates taking place in Tallahassee that will impact the practice of medicine in the State of Florida. Our staff brings members up to speed each week on developments with our legislative priorities and how you can participate in the process.

Health Insurance Program

Our co-op program through Florida Blue provides affordable health insurance to employees, physicians, and their families and establishes a stable alternative to those carriers who often abandon the insurance marketplace. Through this health insurance co-op, participating physicians have the potential to share major profits, save money and offset future rate increases. Established in Marion County in 1981 by physician employers in the private practice of medicine, the Marion County Medical Society, Inc. Insurance Trust provides organizations with comprehensive insurance coverage for employees and their families.

LifeBridge: Physician Wellness Program

In partnership with the PSCF Foundation, the LifeBridge: Physician Wellness Program is designed to address the seriousness of physician burnout. Practicing medicine can be highly stressful and doctors face day-to-day challenges with emotional stress and work burnout which can impact one’s personal, practice, or family life.

The PSCF is dedicated to addressing the needs of its physician members through a 24/7 wellness line and online resources. By calling (844) 234-LIFE PSCF members are connected with a certified counselor experienced in coaching healthcare professionals. No electronic records are kept and no information is disclosed. PSCF members receive four free counseling sessions per calendar year.

Membership Directory

The PSCF is excited to announce its new partnership with the Orlando Healthcare Guide to provide special recognition for PSCF members. PSCF members are also included in the Online PSCF Membership Directory on pscfl.org. The online database is a great resource for referrals from the public.

PSCF ONLINE COMMUNITY

The PSCF Online Community makes it easier than ever for our members to interact and engage with one another. Members can see the most up-to-date interactions and content from their connections and fellow group members from a centralized feed.

Mentorship Program

The PSCF Mentorship Program is a source of encouragement, advice, and support for first year through fourth year local medical students. The program is centralized in its support and decentralized in its execution in that the mentor/mentee decide when, where, and how often they want to meet, write, or talk. PSCF matches, monitors, and supports the mentor/mentee relationship. Throughout the year, the PSCF asks the mentor/mentee pairs to look at their goals for the year, check-in to report their progress, and guide them through a closure plan at the end of the year that is purposeful and natural.

Physician members get a lot of personal satisfaction from helping future physicians and find it as a way to give back to their profession while at the same time connecting to that passion that brought them to the practice of medicine.

Membership Meetings & Events

Learn about the latest in medicine, receive updates on legislation that impacts your practice, earn CME and share a meal with your friends, colleagues, and loved ones. Presenters range from local physicians to the legislators and highly engaged physicians in organized medicine. CME Opportunities

The PSCF provides numerous free CME options for its members through various programs both in-person and virtual throughout the year.  Each December, our Annual Virtual CME Program. aims to provide CMEs that are mandatory for re-licensure such as Prevention of Medical Errors, Domestic Violence, and Controlled Substance Prescribing. 

The Annual Orange County Physicians & Allied Health Professional Conference is an annual event co-hosted with Orange County government each year to educate medical professionals on emerging trends in our community.

Resident Research Competition

Any Resident actively participating in a program in Orange, Osceola, Sumter, Lake or Seminole counties are welcome to enter. the PSCF Resident Research Competition. The finalists in the competition present their research or clinical case reports to the PSCF membership.

Annual Meeting Poster Competition

PSCF Medical Students can submit posters for the judged PSCF Annual Meeting Poster Competition. This is a great opportunity for Medical Students to showcase their work and network with local physicians. This poster competition is held in conjunction with the PSCF Annual Meeting each January. Details about poster submissions are available on our website at pscfl.org each fall or you can contact PSCF via email.

WOMEN IN MEDICINE

The Physicians Society of Florida welcomes women physicians who are practicing in the area to share your common experiences and practice expertise with other Women in Medicine and facilitate networking, friendships and fun. Events are hosted twice a year (Spring and Fall) at local establishments throughout Central Florida. Our events are exclusive for PSCF Female Physician Members.
