Invitation To Participate in Stakeholder Interviews for a Moffitt Cancer Center Study!

Dear Physicians Society of Central Florida members,

Although racial and ethnic minority populations, including Black and Hispanic individuals, experience cancer health disparities, these populations are underrepresented in cancer clinical trials. These barriers can limit a patient’s opportunity for better cancer outcomes, potentially including patients of your own.

To address these disparities, researchers from Moffitt Cancer Center, Drs. Susan Vadaparampil and Dana Rollison, are conducting a National Cancer Institute-funded research study called ACTWONDER2S, an intervention focused on increasing clinical trial participation among Black and Hispanic populations.

As a first step to these efforts, the ACTWONDER2S study team is conducting a series of informational interviews with key stakeholders, including physicians. The goals of these interviews are to gain valuable feedback on ways to improve the clinical trial referral and enrollment process at Moffitt. The study team is looking to partner with community or Moffitt physicians to take part in one or more of the following interview sessions:

Individual interviews

The purpose of these one-on-one interviews is to discuss awareness on local clinical trials and experiences with clinical trial referrals. Interviews will be completed virtually and are expected to take about 1 hour. You will be compensated $50 for participation.

Group interviews

The purpose of these hands-on group interviews is to refine a set of digital tools geared towards facilitating the referral and enrollment process to clinical trials at Moffitt. Interviews will be completed virtually and are expected to take about 1 hour. You will be compensated up to $250 for participation ($100 commitment incentive to participate in a user group and $50 per user session completed).

To be involved in the ACTWONDER2S study, you must….

  • Be a physician or provider (MD or DO)
  • See patients diagnosed with cancer at any point in their cancer journey
  • Practice medicine in the Tampa Bay area or surrounding counties
