The CDC has issued a Health Advisory regarding an Ebola (Bundibugyo virus) outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
While the risk to the U.S. remains low, clinicians should screen patients with compatible symptoms (fever, GI illness, unexplained bleeding) and recent travel to affected regions within the past 21 days.
Prompt isolation and public health notification are critical. Individuals traveling to these areas should avoid contact with sick individuals, body fluids and other high-risk exposures.
Travelers should also monitor for symptoms after returning home.
