The Wall Street Journal (10/2, Loftus, Hopkins, Subscription Publication) reports a special U.S. committee said in a statement released by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine that specific health care workers and first responders should be first to receive a coronavirus vaccine when approved and available followed by those with health conditions placing them at an increased risk of severe COVID-19.
The AP (10/2, Johnson) reported that the panel also recommended that “the shots should be provided free to all,” while “throughout the vaccine campaign, efforts also should focus on disadvantaged areas to remedy racial health disparities.”
