Applications Open: FRAME Loan Repayment Program for Physicians Serving Underserved Florida Communities The 2025 application cycle for the Florida Reimbursement Assistance for Medical Education (FRAME) program opened on April 28, 2025, and close on May 30, 2025. Created to strengthen the healthcare workforce in underserved areas, the FRAME program helps physicians repay medical education loans in exchange for their commitment to practice in high-need communities across Florida. A Strong Opportunity for Florida Physicians The FRAME program is a powerful resource for physicians carrying medical school debt while working in communities with the greatest need for care. According to the 2024 FRAME Annual Report: - 43 physicians were awarded FRAME support in the 2023 cycle
- Nearly 80% of all awardees are in primary care or psychiatry—critical areas for Florida’s health infrastructure
- More than 60% work in public or nonprofit facilities like FQHCs, rural hospitals, and county health departments
These figures show that the FRAME program is making a meaningful impact—and that Florida physicians are leading the way. What’s New in 2025? The upcoming cycle features several important updates: - Expanded award amounts to provide greater financial relief
- Inclusion of new eligible practitioner types. Though physicians remain the program’s core focus.
- Volunteer service requirements Qualified applicant payments are contingent upon the completion of 25 hours of volunteer primary care services annually.
Eligibility The FRAME program is open to licensed Florida physicians (MDs and DOs) who: - Practice in a designated Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA)
- Work in a qualifying facility
- Are committed to delivering care in underserved communities
While other licensed healthcare professionals may now be eligible, physicians remain a priority group for FRAME support.
