History: Lake County Medical Society

Local Physician Organization Expands into Lake and Sumter Counties

The Physicians Society of Central Florida (PSCF) will be expanding on July 1, 2022 to include physicians living and/or practicing in Lake and Sumter counties.  The PSCF was founded in 1906 as the Orange County Medical Society and 1927 as the Seminole County Medical Society, The Physicians Society of Central Florida was created in 2019 as these two county medical societies came together to unify physicians in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties.

The PSCF represents physician members in the practice of medicine in Central Florida and is a leader in the region dedicated to promoting high quality medical care and the value of physician services through education, collaboration, clinical excellence, transparency, and the design of a fair and competitive healthcare marketplace.

The decision to expand into Lake and Sumter counties was made in collaboration with the leadership and members of the Lake-Sumter Medical Society (LSMS), which has been in existence since 1978, in an effort to provide more opportunities for physicians in these counties to benefit from belonging to a strong and diverse group of doctors who can effectively advocate on behalf of their colleagues and patients.

The current Executive Director of the LSMS, Carol Millwater Ryan, who has served the organization for over 13 years, plans to retire from her position once the merge of the societies is complete.  Mrs. Ryan will work closely with the staff of the PSCF during the transition to ensure the connections and relationships she has built in the local community are carried over to the Physicians Society of Central Florida.

Once assigned to a physician, clients will see their assigned doctor in the privacy of the physician's office during regular business hours. Our clients are closely monitored by a Case Manager who oversees all appointments and care.
