The Physicians Society of Central Florida Foundation is proud to offer the Dr. Zabunnissa Vyas Scholarship.

Zabunnissa (Zaby) Vyas was born in a Catholic Mission Village in Dabani, Busia, Uganda. Dr. Vyas followed the footsteps of her sister, who was attending Medical School in Edinburgh, Scotland. However, she wanted to remain in Uganda and attended Medical School at Makerere University in Kampala. After five years of study, she graduated in 1972 and began an internship in London, training to become a family physician in Essex, England. After 10 years in England, Dr. Vyas and her husband immigrated to the USA, settling in Florida and beginning a Residency in Family Medicine at the University of Florida.
